惡地是指地形遭受雨水強烈侵蝕，成為無數溝谷，而導致崎嶇難行，不利農作的地區，台東利吉惡地就是屬於這樣的地形。利吉惡地地質層是有台灣地質國寶之稱的『利吉混同層』，由顆粒極細的泥岩所組成，滲水性及透氣性都不佳，雨水只能沿著地表侵蝕，一條一條的雨蝕溝便成為了利吉惡地的奇景。當您來旅遊時，不可錯過這特殊台東旅遊景點！
利吉惡地位於台東市北郊的卑南溪畔，地屬富源山，沿著台東大橋，通往利吉村，到了卑南大橋或利吉橋上，便可眺望利吉惡地。由於利吉惡地光禿的外表，且土地貧脊，與月球表面相似，因此又稱為『利吉月世界』。雖然台東利吉惡地不利農作，但這裡仍有五節芒、相思樹、車桑子等優勢植物，他們多半生長在崩塌土石的下層，來到這裡可要仔細觀察一下。此外花東縱谷國家風景區管理處在利吉惡地設置了涼亭、木棧道及解說牌，讓來到台東旅遊的遊客們可以清楚了解利吉惡地的形成及演變過程。
